Phoenix TNG was established with the core mission of preserving and making substantive contributions to the forthcoming phase of the Tamil Eelam struggle. With the cessation of the armed conflict led by the LTTE on May 18, 2009, culminating in a distressing zenith of genocidal onslaught against the Tamil community, followed by a heightened form of structural Tamil genocide, our newly politicized generation found itself adrift in a vacuum, leading to the withdrawal of many of our peers from the struggle. The prevailing uncertainties were rooted in the arduous challenges encountered by preceding generations in sustaining the pursuit of our liberation on multiple fronts.
However, Phoenix – The Next Generation was conceived as a proactive response aimed at countering the stagnation that had permeated our struggle and ensuring its sustainable continuation. Notably, it was discovered retrospectively that a considerable number of our members had actively participated in the 2009 protests, standing alongside one another in a spirit of camaraderie prior to the very inception of our organization.
In summary, Phoenix TNG emerged as a result of the critical imperative to safeguard and invigorate the subsequent phase of the Tamil Eelam struggle. The organization’s establishment was driven by the pressing need to address the prevailing sense of stagnation experienced by our generation, which had led to disengagement from the struggle. Through resolute determination to confront these challenges and foster enduring continuity, Phoenix TNG seeks to revitalize and fortify our collective endeavors. It is worth noting the pre-existing camaraderie among our members, forged through their participation in the 2009 protests, which laid a strong foundation for the formation of our organization.
